Celebrating New Zealand's contribution and advocacy for free and open source software

What are the New Zealand Open Source Awards

The Open Source Awards provides a chance to recognise and celebrate the outstanding work done with free and open source software and the artistic, scientific and social outcomes it delivers in New Zealand. The awards in 2020 will look at the successes over the last two years.

For New Zealand, free and open source technology not only represents an opportunity to contribute and be recognised on the world stage, but also to deliver real competitive advantage. Encouraging collaboration, openness, honesty and transparency allows for more effective tools and software to evolve, helping community-based organisations to meet the challenges they face.

The New Zealand Open Source Awards recognise and promote:

  • the direct contributions of individuals to free and open source projects or the promotion of free and open source philosophy.
  • exemplary use of free and open source by New Zealand organisations.
