For the last two years the New Zealand Open Source Awards have received nothing but positive feedback. They have seemingly fulfilled a need to recognise work with open source that might otherwise go unnoticed, to exhibit the breadth and depth of open source activity in New Zealand and by New Zealanders, and to bring those involved together for an annual celebration.

The challenge from this point on is to keep the Awards relevant in an environment where open source is increasingly prevalent.

We are keen to hear from you about how this might be achieved.

Do you want the nominations process to be more open? Do you want to be able to review and comment on the nominations as part of the assessment process? Do you want to be able to vote directly for your favourite submissions? What kind of categories should we be recognising? How can we improve the event itself?
