2016 NZOSA Sponsors

2016 NZOSA Sponsors

NZOSA rely on the support of sponsors in order for this event to go ahead and are hugely grateful to the tremendous support they have received for this years awards. It is an event to recognise, promote and congratulate those New Zealanders that have made a contribution directly to free and open source projects and/or those who promote open source and the philosophy behind it.

NZOSA has eight sponsors this year ranging from the Platinum to the Bronze sponsors. Regardless of where they sit on this spectrum, they are all hugely passionate about technology in NZ and overseas and especially so when it comes to open source.

Catalyst(external link) is a Platinum sponsor for the 2016 awards. They are the biggest open source software company in New Zealand, and also have offices in Australia and the UK. Founded in 1997, the same five directors run the company now as they did when starting out. Hugely passionate about open source, Catalyst stand firmly behind there tag line, “It's not just what we do, it's what we stand for”. Collaboration, honesty and innovation – these are three values which are instilled inside Catalyst's walls. Conducting work for all sorts of clients, from small sole owned businesses to the likes of Government Departments and everything in between.

New Zealand Registry Services (external link)(NZRS) are a Platinum sponsor also for this years awards and with a key role in the internet presence in New Zealand we are thrilled to have them on board. NZRS are solely owned by InternetNZ, the membership society that protects and promotes the Internet. NZRS was formed in 2002 to operate and manage the registration of .nz domain names within New Zealand.

SilverStripe(external link) are a Silver sponsor and recently, earlier this year won the “Best Technology Solution for the Public Sector” at the Hi-tech Awards. SilverStripe is an open source project which is passionate about the limitless possibilities of the web. Their vision is to; “create platforms that help people work together better. As well as supporting the community that helps grow the open source project, we work with a number of clients across government, banking, utilities and telecommunications.” They are strong advocates for open source.

Our second silver sponsor for 2016 is The Institute of IT Professionals(external link) (IITP). They are a non-profit professional body and pride themselves on being the oldest and most trusted IT body in New Zealand. They work extremely hard to improve both the education and development of those working in IT across the country. They aim to increase the education, professionalism and expertise of those working in the IT sector within New Zealand.

Red Hat(external link) are also a silver sponsor. They are based in the United States of America, but have offices all around the globe. They have won copious amounts of awards within the open source domain. They developed the open source technology, Red Hat Enterprise Linux which includes military-grade security technologies, from network firewall control to secure containers for application isolation, in order to prevent intrusions and protect your data. Red Hat Enterprise Linux means you can safely deploy apps across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.

This year the NZOSA have three bronze sponsors. NZRise(external link) is on board with sponsoring the event, which given their business is focused around supporting New Zealand digital technology businesses, is a great fit. NZRise are passionate about growth in the New Zealand-owned digital market and support and promote local businesses. Formed by a group of business leaders from NZ-owned IT firms, they act as NZRise in a no-profit incorporated society.

Silicon Systems(external link) provides a IaaS, PaaS and SaaS to the New Zealand based IT marketplace. They offer a Wellington based cloud which is cost effective, stable and reliable for their clients. They are also focused on hardware with a range of desktop machines amongst others for sale. Founded in New Zealand over 23 years ago, Silicon now provide a range of IT infrastructure services to Wellington businesses.

Lastly,(external link) New Zealand Open Source Society(external link) (NZOSS) is a non-profit organisation that have huge involvement with the use of open source in New Zealand. They protect, advocate and advance the use on open source. They have connections with users, creators and contributors of open source and recommend open source products to community members, to Government and everyone in between.

NZOSA are extremely thankful to our elite list of sponsors, without which the event would be obsolete. Having the event backed by some of the worlds most trusted, successful open sourced focused entities, be it a company or a non-profit organisation, is a privilege.

We are looking forward to the Gala Dinner on Tuesday 25 October, at Te Marae, Te Papa, Wellington. To purchase tickets, contact awards@nzosa.org.nz.
